LUCKNOW: A young man and a woman were found dead inside a guest house room in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, on Wednesday. The deceased were identified as 20-year-old Amit Kumar and 19-year-old Nargis.
The two had been staying in Room No. 101 of the Red Building Guest House in Chinhat since August 23, according to police. They had reportedly been living there for around 20 days.
Guest house operator Rakesh Yadav alerted the police after finding the two dead inside the room. When police reached the spot, the bodies were found hanging from a fan.
After completing the inquest procedures, the bodies were shifted to Lohia Hospital for post-mortem examination. Police then contacted the families and learned that a missing-person case had been registered at Harpalpur police station after Nargis went missing. Investigators also found that her family had no information about where the two had been staying.
Police found a marriage certificate from an Arya Samaj temple and a suicide note inside the room. The marriage had been registered in the name of Pooja, with Nargis listed under that name. A forensic team also visited the spot and collected evidence. Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances that led the two to take their own lives.
