Man arrested for alleged sexual assault of minor girl inside movie theatre in Shornur

SHORNUR: A man was arrested for allegedly subjecting a 13-year-old girl to sexual assault inside a film theatre. K.P. Jafar, a native of Vallappuzha, was arrested in the incident that took place on Saturday evening at a theatre in Shoranur town.

The accused had been behaving inappropriately and harassing the girl from the moment she arrived at the theatre. The complaint alleges that he touched her private parts. The girl’s family, who were sitting nearby, immediately alerted the police. Based on the girl's complaint, the Shoranur police took Jafar into custody and registered a case under the POCSO Act.

He was produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody.
