Vigilance raid houses of bureaucrat couple, cash worth crores, gold seized

PATNA: Reports say unaccounted cash and jewellery were seized during a vigilance raid at the homes of an officer couple. More than Rs one crore in cash, jewellery, property documents, and 48 luxury watches were recovered from the Bihar-based couple.

The raids were conducted at centres linked to Patna Additional District Magistrate Ravindra Kumar Diwakar and his wife, Kumari Sweety, sub-registrar of Bhanapur. Multiple vigilance teams simultaneously searched their residences in Patna and Begusarai. The raids were conducted in the presence of the vigilance department DIG, with teams even bringing a cash-counting machine.

However, there is no exact confirmation yet regarding the total amount of cash and gold seized. Reports say Rs 70 lakh in cash and 48 watches worth Rs 6 lakh were found in Patna, while Rs 9 lakh was recovered from Begusarai. Officials also said that documents related to land and investment transactions were seized.

Ravindra and his wife own two flats valued at Rs1.07 crore in Patna. Three plots worth Rs 1.28 crore are also registered in the names of his wife and her father. The investigation is ongoing, and police said an FIR will be registered against the accused soon.
