Woman stripped and assaulted in bar; Seven including three women bouncers arrested

GUWAHATI: Seven including three female bouncers, have been arrested in connection with an incident in which a woman was stripped and assaulted during a verbal dispute that broke out in a bar. The incident happened at around 2:30 am on Friday at The Locals nightclub in Khanapara, Guwahati. The police registered a suo motu case after visuals of the attack circulated on social media.

In addition to the female bouncers, those arrested include the bar manager, event manager, and front-office executive. The arrested are aged between 21 and 30. The bar is believed to have remained operational even after 12:30 am. An investigation into this is also underway.

The deputy commissioner of police said CCTV footage clearly shows a group of people assaulting the woman inside the bar. According to preliminary information, an argument that broke out while drinking led to the assault. The woman hit one of the female bouncers with a beer bottle, following which other staffs in a fit of rage began assaulting her as a group. They grabbed her by her hair and clothes, dragged her to the basement, and assaulted her until she lost consciousness.

Police have identified the seriously injured woman, but her personal details have not been disclosed. The arrested will be produced before the court shortly.
