20-year-old college girl among four arrested from lodge in Areekode, police seize drugs worth lakhs

MALAPPURAM: Police have busted a drug transaction allegedly operating from a private lodge in Malappuram. During a surprise inspection conducted as part of Operation Toofan, authorities seized 14 grams of MDMA and other materials. A 20-year-old college student and three young men were arrested in connection with the case. The accused were caught from a private lodge in Areekode following a tip-off received by the Malappuram District Police Chief.

The arrested persons have been identified as Muhammad Dilshad from Pookkallathur, Shahal Namas from Thrippanachi in Pookkallathur, Sajmeer from Karaparamba, and Fida Fathima (20) from Anchal in Kollam. The arrests were made during a joint operation by Areekode Police and DANSAF at a private lodge in Kaippakullam, Areekode.

Police recovered MDMA worth lakhs of rupees in the market from the accused. Police and DANSAF officials said inspections will continue in the coming days to prevent drug gangs from targeting college students. The process to produce the accused before the court and remand them is underway. The investigation has been expanded to identify the actual source of the drugs and find other people involved in the network.
