Four of family attempt suicide, man, daughter die

THRISSUR: A family of four attempted suicide in Kunnamkulam. Among the four, a man and his daughter have died. The dead are Siby, an expat residing near Pazhanji M D College and his daughter Aleena. Siby’s wife Beena and son Adithyan have been admitted to the hospital in a critical condition. Siby, who was working abroad had to return after losing his job. Reports say the family had severe financial liabilities and this may have led to the suicide.

Out of fear, 17-year-old Adithyan called the police during the suicide attempt. The incident came to light when the police arrived. The body of Siby was found in the well and Aleena was found hanging. There are hints that the family consumed rat poison. The police have started an investigation.
