Man attempts suicide after slitting throats of wife and son in Thrissur

THRISSUR: A 36-year-old man attempted suicide after slitting throats of his wife and minor son in Valappad Beach. The man identified as Vijesh of Thekkiniyedath in Thrissur murdered his wife Vismaya (30) and four-and-a half-year-old son Dakshin. The man, who slit his throat himself, has been admitted at the Thrissur Medical College Hospital, in a serious condition.

The incident happened Thursday early morning at 1.30 am. When Vismaya’s brother broke open the door after hearing her cries, she ran outside with serious injuries. Vijesh entered another room with his son, killed him and then attempted suicide.

On being informed, the Valappad police arrived and took Vijesh and his son to the hospital, but the doctors were not able to save the life of Dakshin. The bodies of the two are kept at the Engandiyur M I Hospital.

Vijesh used a blade to murder the two. A police team led by Kodungallur DySP R Ratheesh Kumar reached the spot and started an investigation. Initial reports say family dispute led him to take the extreme step.
