A search is being conducted at Pushpalatha's house under the leadership of Panur SI Maria Prince

PANOOR: Police have launched an investigation after a thief broke into a locked house and a school canteen in two separate incidents in Champad, stealing only sweets.

Pushpalatha of Arayakool, Champad, had locked her house and left on Saturday afternoon. When she returned around 6 pm, she found the door open and the house in disarray.

Someone had defecated and urinated on the veranda. Inside, the blades of a ceiling fan in one of the rooms were found broken. The television, a table and a mixer grinder in the kitchen had also been overturned.

Pushpalatha searched the house to check whether any valuables were missing but found that nothing had been stolen except the sweets stored in the refrigerator.

Following her complaint, a police team led by Panoor Sub-Inspector Maria Prince visited the house and conducted an inspection. The police also collected information from neighbours and said CCTV footage would be examined as part of the investigation.

School canteen also targeted

In a separate incident, a thief broke into the canteen of Chothavoor Higher Secondary School in Champad and stole sweets.

The incident came to light on Sunday morning. The miscreant reportedly forced open the door to enter the canteen and took only sweets.

Panoor police have launched an investigation into the incident.
