CHENGANNUR: Opposition leader Pinarayi Vijayan alleged that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has been making political moves. He responded pointing to the agency’s intervention in the Karuvannur Bank corruption case. He added that political moves would be dealt politically.

The opposition leader’s remarks were after an ED letter surfaced alleging that his daughter, Veena, had received Rs 3.28 crore as a bribe through her company from CMRL. However, Pinarayi did not respond to the case against him while speaking at an event in Chengannur.

‘When incorrect steps were taken in Karuvannur, the LDF government took strong action against it. But the ED, an investigative agency of our country, intervened in the matter and accused a political party. This is happening for the first time in the country. The ED came in after those who had committed corruption at the institution were identified and action was taken against them. The ED influenced some of these people and made them approvers. The people concerned should reveal what the ED, or those directing it from behind the scenes, actually wanted them to say.

An attempt was made to create the impression that the entire cooperative sector in Kerala is a centre of corruption. Such political moves by investigative agencies will be dealth politically,’ said Pinarayi Vijayan.
