10 more Shigella cases confirmed in Kerala, 120 infections reported this month

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Ten more people have tested positive for Shigella in Kerala today. The cases were reported from Kozhikode (3), Thiruvananthapuram (2), Thrissur (2), Malappuram (2), and Palakkad (1). A total of 120 Shigella cases and five deaths have been reported in the state during June. So far this year, 196 people have been confirmed with Shigella infection. The Health Department said there is no need to panic, but people should remain cautious and follow safety measures.

Meanwhile, the Health Department informed that three people who were under observation at Kozhikode Medical College after being included in the Nipah contact list have been discharged. With this, all people who were part of the Nipah contact list have left the hospital. The Nipah patient from Feroke, Kozhikode, is still under treatment and remains on a ventilator at Kozhikode Medical College.
