Understanding reached, strikes deferred! Three-day bank strike called off after Sunday night meeting

NEW DELHI: The nationwide bank strike that was to start on Monday has been called off. The strike, scheduled for September 28, 29, and 30 under the leadership of the United Forum of Bank Unions, was withdrawn in the late hours of Sunday night.

The strike was announced to press for the demand to implement a five-day workweek. Public sector banks, certain private banks, and rural banks were set to participate in this strike.

"THERE WAS A MEETING BETWEEN IBA AND UFBU TONIGHT AT 9-30 PM. ON OUR STRIKE NOTICE. AFTER DETAILED DISCUSSIONS, UNDERSTANDINGS HAVE BEEN REACHED, AND HENCE OUR AGITATIONS AND STRIKE ACTIONS ARE DEFERRED," wrote the All India Bank Officers Confederation on social media.
