COW SHED FIRE

THRISSUR: A calf died while three cows sustained severe burns after a cattle shed was set on fire by unknown assailants. The incident occurred at Venkitangu in Thrissur. It is suspected that a gang involved in the sale of narcotics committed the crime.

The incident took place at the home of Sumathi and Suresh, a couple who rely on cattle rearing for their livelihood. The fire broke out around 1:00 AM today and spread rapidly within moments. A CCTV camera in the vicinity was found covered with a cloth at the time of the incident. The family also reported hearing sounds of motorcycles passing by at the time of the incident.

Locals complained about the menace caused by drug peddlers in the region. They said it has become impossible for them to step out of their houses after dusk. They suspect that these very gangs might be responsible for setting fire to the cattle shed.
