KOZHIKODE: A 65-year-old man was charred to death after his car hit a wall and caught fire. He has been identified as Sudhakaran of Chevayur. The accident happened Tuesday early morning at 4.30 am near Madathil Mukku at Chevayur in Kozhikode.

The car lost control on a steep downhill stretch and crashed into a wall, after which it caught fire. Sudhakaran was trapped inside the car as the doors had become locked. Firefighters from the medical college area arrived and extinguished the blaze, but they have not yet been able to remove the body from the vehicle. They are trying to cut open the car to take the body out from the vehicle.

The officials said the body would be shifted to the medical college after a forensic examination, and that a detailed investigation would be launched. Local residents have also complained that accidents are frequent at the spot.
