THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Candidates on the rank list for Last Grade Servant posts in companies, corporations and boards are facing a setback as vacancies remain unreported, despite recruitment to more than 50 public sector institutions having been entrusted to the Kerala Public Service Commission (PSC). With only three months remaining before the rank list expires, fewer than half of the candidates have received appointment recommendations. Meanwhile, temporary appointments are continuing in public sector institutions to fill vacancies.
The rank list, which expires on January 11, 2027, includes 7,264 candidates: 3,712 on the main list, 3,438 on the supplementary list and 114 on the list for persons with disabilities. Of these, only 3,186 candidates have received appointment recommendations.
Recruitment has been slow at major employers such as the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB), Kerala Water Authority and Kerala State Financial Enterprises (KSFE). The Water Authority authorities have stated that the posts of Office Attendant, Watchman and Lascar have been abolished. It is stated that a proposal to abolish these posts was submitted to the government on August 29, 2025. However, even vacancies that arose before that proposal were submitted have not been reported to the PSC.
More than 350 vacancies exist across the posts of Office Attendant, Watchman, and Lascar at the Water Authority. Although the post of Office Attendant continues to exist at KSEB, appointments are being made through the compassionate appointment scheme. There are complaints that no vacancies in this post have been reported to the PSC since 1972. KSFE has also not reported its existing vacancies. Temporary appointments are being made to nearly half of the vacancies.
