KOZHIKODE: A doctor of Kozhikode Medical College Hospital was found dead. He has been identified as K Nikhil Chandran (34) of Malappuram and an assistant professor of Bio Chemistry department. He was found hanging in his quarters.

He was found dead when friends went to check on Nikhil after he failed to pick up the phone. Police said the preliminary conclusion is that personal reasons may have forced him to take the drastic step. Nikhil had reportedly been under mental stress due to various reasons and was also said to have been taking medication for it. He was a rank holder at AIIMS. His wife is a doctor in Ernakulam.

Nikhil had been working as a tutor in Kozhikode Medical College for nearly two years. He was found dead Thursday evening at his residence near the medical college. He had not reported for duty yesterday. His parents also tried calling him but could not reach him. The incident came to light when his friends went in search of him.

Police reached the spot and completed the inquest procedures. The body was then shifted to the mortuary of the medical college hospital. Police have registered a case of unnatural death.
