
KOLLAM: A Karunagappally native is the winner of the Vishu Bumper of the State Lottery Department. The first prize was won by the ticket number 'VB 135452 ', purchased by lottery vendor Vinod's father, Ponnan. The first prize was sold by agent D Anil of Karunagappally, Kollam. Vinod, who often tries his luck with tickets, is now elated with the big bumper prize.
“The ticket was bought by my father on the day when I fell ill. Luck came to me that way. I will plan with my father on what to do next. We are very happy,” said Vinod.

A record 44.61 crore tickets have already been sold in the state. 11.55 lakh tickets have been sold in Palakkad district alone. A total of 45 lakh tickets have been printed. Last year, 42.87 lakh tickets were sold. The price of a ticket is Rs 300. The tickets are in six series. There is a consolation prize of Rs 1 lakh each for the tickets in the five series. The second prize will be Rs 1 crore each for six people, the third prize will be Rs 10 lakh each for six people, and the fourth prize will be Rs 5 lakh each for six people.
