Former CM Oommen Chandy's life to be adapted for the big screen; Vinod Guruvayoor to write script

KOCHI: A biographical film based on the life of veteran Congress leader and former Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy is in the works. The screenplay will be penned by Vinod Guruvayoor, while the project will be produced by the Oommen Chandy Foundation. Speaking about the project, Chandy Oommen MLA said the film aims to present the defining moments and historical memories of an era to Kerala society in an honest and authentic manner.

According to Chandy Oommen, several filmmakers had approached the family with proposals to make a movie on Oommen Chandy's life following his death. However, it was Vinod Guruvayoor's fresh and distinctive approach to the screenplay that ultimately won their approval. He expressed confidence that the film would help introduce Oommen Chandy's life, public service, and legacy to a younger generation.

Chandy Oommen also revealed that a few actors are being considered for the lead role, though no final decision has been made. The team plans to complete the screenplay before finalising the director and cast.
