Pinarayi Vijayan is still powerful; won't insult him personally, says G Sudhakaran

ALAPPUZHA: Former CPM leader and Ambalapuzha MLA G. Sudhakaran said he would never forget the affection shown to him by Opposition Leader Pinarayi Vijayan. He also said that his differences with Vijayan are purely political and that he would never insult him personally. Sudhakaran made the remarks while launching a sharp attack on CPM state secretary M.V. Govindan.

"Pinarayi Vijayan remains a powerful leader. There is no question about his influence. However, the situation is not the same as it was earlier. In the past, people like me stood by him and protected him. Today, he is forced to look after those around him," Sudhakaran said.

He also criticised Govindan's leadership, saying, "M.V. Govindan should show some discretion. If mistakes are made, they should be corrected, whether by the party or by individuals. Otherwise, they will end up in the dustbin of history. How does not renewing my party membership make me a class traitor? It is M.V. Govindan who is the real class traitor. As the party's state secretary, he is working against the party. It seems he wants to see the party destroyed. Doesn't he feel ashamed to continue in the post?"

Continuing his attack, Sudhakaran said, "Does anyone even understand what M.V. Govindan is saying? It would be better if he kept his mouth shut. He has led the party to defeat in every election and has no ability to lead it. He is nothing but a liability to the party."
