THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala government has removed Kudumbashree from the Kerala Development and Strategic Innovation Council (K-DISC) programme. A government order has been issued stating that K-DISC's collaboration with Kudumbashree has been discontinued. The government has also decided that the services of district-level programme managers will no longer be required. The move is part of the government's plan to restructure the 'Ente Thozhil Ente Abhimaanam' (My Job, My Pride) project.

K-DISC was introduced as an innovative initiative during the previous LDF government's tenure. The project was aimed at addressing unemployment in Kerala by promoting technological knowledge, job skills and other employment-related support.

As part of the programme, Kudumbashree had set up a network of community ambassadors through panchayats and municipalities. District-level programme coordinators were responsible for supervising their activities.

The project involved conducting field surveys to collect details such as the number of unemployed people in each household and their educational qualifications. Based on the findings, necessary support and assistance were provided to help them access employment opportunities. However, the government has now taken the position that Kudumbashree's services are no longer required under this system. Kudumbashree has been directed to stop all such activities by August 31.
