Essential services, vehicles exempted; UDF announces hartal tomorrow over alleged assault on chairperson

KANNUR: The UDF has called a hartal in Sreekandapuram municipality limits on Saturday, from 6 am to 6 pm, alleging that DYFI workers attacked municipality chairperson E.V. Ramakrishnan. Essential services and vehicles have been exempted from the hartal.

Ramakrishnan was allegedly manhandled during a clash between DYFI and Youth Congress workers in Sreekandapuram, during which his clothes were torn.

Police registered a case against 19 DYFI workers under non-bailable provisions following a complaint alleging that Congress workers had been assaulted during the clash.
