Holiday declared for educational institutions in Kerala as part of World Cup finals

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government has declared a holiday for all educational institutions in Kerala as part of the World Cup finals. The directions in this regard were given by Chief Minister V D Satheesan. There is no change in the exams scheduled. A holiday has been declared for professional colleges as well. The World Cup finals between Argentina and Spain will start Monday morning at 12.30 am. Several ministers had expressed their views on granting a holiday. The holiday was announced soon after.

The World Cup finals between Argentina and Spain will start Monday morning at 12.30 am. If the match ends within the fixed time, it will be around 2:30 am. The trophy presentation ceremony is expected to conclude by 3:00 am. However, if the final goes into extra time and a penalty shootout, the match will end even later in the early hours of the morning. Considering this, the government decided to give a holiday for students. Education Minister N Shamsudheen has shared a Facebook post on it.

Considering the request of students who are football fans, and as the FIFA World Cup final is being played early Monday morning, the government has declared a holiday for all schools under the State General Education Department tomorrow (Monday, July 20).
