Rain returns: Yellow alert issued for six districts; strong winds predicted

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rainfall across parts of Kerala today and issued a yellow alert for six districts. The districts under yellow alert are Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, and Palakkad.

According to the IMD, isolated heavy rainfall is expected in these districts. Heavy rainfall refers to 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm of rain within 24 hours. Residents in the affected districts have been advised to remain alert and take necessary precautions.

The weather department has also warned of strong winds with speeds of up to 50 kmph in some areas along with the rain. The IMD has forecast that isolated heavy rainfall is likely to continue across Kerala until July 20.
