ERATTUPETTA: Senior BJP leader PC George is devastated over the personal loss suffered in the rain that wreaked havoc in Poonjar. George estimated that he suffered a loss of Rs 40 lakh after water entered his house and his wife’s shop.

“I have been here for 40 years. Such a situation is unprecedented. I have never seen water entering my house like this. Yesterday at 2 am, a bank official who lives nearby came to the house and knocked on the door. That's when I came to know about the flash flood kind of situation. Water entered the house at around 2.30 am and rose to about three and a half feet.

My wife Usha and our younger son Shane were at home at the time. We immediately moved to the upper floor of the house. The water entered and destroyed many of the household appliances. Two fridges and a TV are gone. There was a loss of about Rs. 10 lakh in the house alone. Two Innova cars also went underwater. Not only that, but my wife's firm in Poonjar was waterlogged. All the sarees were damaged. Many of them were expensive attires. There was a loss of about Rs. 30 lakh. Some people have suffered even greater losses. So I know it is not wise to blabber about the loss I suffered,” PC George clarified.
