
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has informed that there is a possibility of heavy rain in Kerala today. An orange alert has been issued in three districts today. Orange alert has been issued in Idukki, Ernakulam and Thrissur. An orange alert has been issued in Kottayam, Idukki and Ernakulam. The possibility of very heavy rain has been predicted in isolated places. The IMD defines very heavy rain as rainfall ranging from 115.6 mm to 204.4 mm in 24 hours.

The IMD has declared a yellow alert in the following districts. Isolated heavy rain is predicted. The IMD defines heavy rain as a situation where 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm of rain is expected in 24 hours. Thunderstorms are expected. The IMD has informed that there is a possibility of strong winds.
The National Oceanographic Research Centre has informed that there is a possibility of sea erosion due to waves ranging from 0.8 to 1.4 meters high along the Kerala coast from 08.30 pm today (11/06/2026) to 11.30 pm tomorrow (12/06/2026) as part of the black sea phenomenon.
