KOCHI: The police on Monday evening interrogated additional district judge, father of the 17-year-old old, accused in the Cheranalloor accident case. He was questioned Monday evening at his flat in Companypady, Aluva. He told police that his son drove the vehicle without his knowledge. The judge also told police that he was unaware that his son used to drive the vehicle regularly. The judge was named accused in the case the other day.
The judge was booked after a case of culpable homicide was registered against the 17-year-old. The FIR was revised after naming the judge as accused, who is an additional district judge handling motor accident compensation cases. The case will be investigated by the district crime branch.
The judge is expected to be suspended soon. A decision by the five-member administrative committee headed by Kerala High Court Chief Justice Soumen Sen is likely shortly. Reports also say that Justice P V Kunhikrishnan, who is in charge of the Thrissur district judiciary, has written to the Chief Justice seeking action.
Meantime, the 17-year-old has deleted his Instagram account. He had earlier shared the visuals of him driving the Benz Car that met with the accident. It is suspected that the account was deleted in an attempt to destroy evidence. The police got the visuals of him driving the car at excessive speed from his mobile phone. The police suspect that there are challenges or similar trends among youth related to speeding.
