Ganesh behind solar conspiracy against Oommen Chandy: Former minister K Babu testifies in court

KOLLAM: Former minister K Babu, in his testimony before the Kottarakkara Magistrate Court, said it was Ganesh Kumar who conspired to fabricate allegations against former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy in the solar scam case. This testimony was given in a case filed by Advocate Sudheer Jacob.

Both Babu and Ganesh Kumar served as ministers in the Oommen Chandy cabinet.

According to K BABU:

Ganesh was assaulted at his official residence by the husband of a woman. Following the ensuing controversies, Ganesh was forced to resign from the cabinet. Meanwhile, Oommen Chandy and others mediated to settle Ganesh's family issues. Soon, Ganesh separated from his wife, and the legal cases ended. Although Ganesh attempted to return to the cabinet, his father, R. Balakrishna Pillai, opposed.

In 2013, Babu and Oommen Chandy had come to attend a government program at Edappally Changampuzha Park and were resting at the Ernakulam guest house. Two people came to see Oommen Chandy. One of them said his wife was having an affair with Ganesh and demanded that the chief minister intervene and settle the issue. Due to the complaint, Oommen Chandy refused to take Ganesh back into the cabinet. With this, an irked Ganesh started his moves to bring down the UDF government.

Meanwhile, a case was registered against Saritha S. Nair following complaints that the Solar Renewable Energy Company defrauded several people after collecting money from them. It is known that while in Pathanamthitta jail following her arrest, Saritha had prepared a 21-page letter and handed it over to Advocate Feni Balakrishnan. However, during the evidence-gathering proceedings of the Solar Judicial Commission, a 25-page document was submitted as that letter. Four of those pages—containing fabricated allegations against individuals, including Oommen Chandy—were added later.
