Kannur: Educational institutions to remain closed, landslides presaged

KANNUR: With no abate from the heavy downpours, the Kannur district collector has again announced a holiday for all educational institutions tomorrow. Professional colleges, ISC, CBSE, nursery to madrassa schools come under the purview of the educational institutions mentioned. The collector also asked the school authorities to arrange some other day to compensate for the missed classes. Meanwhile, the PSC exams scheduled for tomorrow remain unchanged.

Kannur and Kasargod are currently placed on red alert. Disaster management also fears landslides and deluges in these two districts that have been encountering relentless rains for three days straight. Meanwhile, water entered homes in the Muzhappilangad area. Eight families have been relocated from this area. Kannur Pazhassi dam’s shutter was raised 35cm today to release the excess water.
