Gas cylinder explodes while cooking in Kasaragod; extensive damage

KASARAGOD: A gas cylinder exploded while food was being cooked at a house in Thrikkarippur in Kasaragod on Tuesday, causing extensive damage to the interiors of the house. No casualties were reported. The incident occurred at the house of K P Nisar at Kooleri in Beericheri in the evening. The gas cylinder reportedly leaked while food was being cooked, following which the fire spread and the cylinder exploded with a loud bang.

The impact of the explosion caused the interiors of the house to be completely damaged, while household articles were gutted in the fire. Four people, including women and children, were reportedly inside the house when the incident occurred. They managed to escape after rushing outside when they noticed the gas leak, averting a major tragedy.

A fire and rescue services team from Thrikkarippur reached the spot after being alerted and completely extinguished the fire.
