Kochi-bound KSRTC super fast bus catches fire; staff's swift action averts major mishap

Super fast bus that caught fire at the KSRTC bus terminal

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A KSRTC Super Fast bus parked at the Thampanoor bus station caught fire on Sunday, but the prompt response of the driver and conductor prevented a major accident.

The incident occurred in the undercarriage of bus KL 15 A 0532, which was scheduled to depart from Thiruvananthapuram to Ernakulam. Passengers were already on board when smoke and flames were noticed rising from the underside of the vehicle.

The driver and conductor immediately evacuated all passengers to safety after spotting the smoke and fire.

KSRTC employees managed to bring the fire under control before it could spread, averting what could have been a major mishap. No injuries were reported in the incident.

Authorities said the exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined, and an investigation is underway.
