THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A sponsorship scheme has been drafted for the purchase and supply of new buses to KSRTC. Detailed guidelines have been issued. Both institutions and individuals can sponsor.
Local bodies, cooperatives, companies, trusts, social organisations, clubs, and business establishments can also donate buses using CSR funds. AC premium buses, AC seater, AC sleeper, super-fast, and fast passenger buses are accepted. The vehicles can be purchased directly, or the amount can be transferred to the corporation. If it is provided as financial assistance, KSRTC itself will purchase the vehicle through tender procedures.
The buses obtained through sponsorship will be registered in the name of the KSRTC Managing Director. KSRTC will have full authority over the maintenance of the vehicle, insurance, ticket revenue, and appointment of employees. If the routes suggested by the sponsors are replacements for the existing services, arrangements will be made. If a new service is required, it will be considered only after taking into account the fuel cost and infrastructure.
Those who sponsor buses can advertise on the vehicle for 10 years. Subject to the conditions, the advertisement can be displayed on 60 per cent of the exterior of the vehicle and 30 per cent of the interior, excluding the front and windows. The name of the organisation can also be included, and the words 'Sponsored by' can be used.
