Monthly payoff case: Legal lapse in SIT formation; Shone George accuses government

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: BJP leader Shone George said there are legal issues with the order issued by the state police chief forming a Special Investigation Team (SIT) in the monthly payoff case. He said the DGP formed the SIT on the direction of the chief minister’s office, which, according to him, is legally improper. Shone George also alleged that Chief Minister V D Satheesan is an accused in the case and claimed this is the reason the state government has not ordered an investigation against Pinarayi Vijayan.

He had shared on Facebook the documents submitted by the enforcement agency SFIO before the court. He made the allegations against the government at a press meet held afterwards.

‘The department of the home minister, accused in it, is telling the police not to register an FIR in this case. The person suspected to be an accused is deciding what kind of investigation should be conducted. What I shared on Facebook today is information I received through the media over the past three months. It contains a page from a diary seized from the managing director of the company facing allegations, with important entries. The chief minister’s name is also mentioned in it. Pinarayi Vijayan’s name is not written as ‘PV’; it is written as ‘Pinarayi’ in the diary itself,’ said Shone George.

The documents shared by Shone George on Facebook were submitted to the court by the enforcement agency SFIO. He shared a page containing important entries from the diary seized from CMRL managing director Sasidharan Kartha. Shone George pointed that the page clearly contains the names of prominent leaders from both the LDF and UDF, including the name of Chief Minister V D Satheesan.
