
CHANGANASSERY: The Nair Service Society (NSS) has presented a balanced budget of ₹175 crore for the upcoming financial year, placing a strong emphasis on welfare schemes and infrastructure development. The budget was presented by NSS General Secretary G. Sukumaran Nair during a meeting presided over by NSS President Dr. M. Sasikumar.
According to the budget estimates, both the expected revenue and expenditure stand at ₹175 crore. A key highlight of the budget is the continuation of direct financial assistance to individuals through the NSS Poor Aid Fund.
The budget outlines significant upgrades to the organisation's healthcare infrastructure. This includes the procurement of advanced medical equipment for various NSS hospitals, empanelling these healthcare institutions with major insurance companies, and securing National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers (NABH) accreditation.
Furthermore, the budget allocates funds for the construction of new working women’s hostels, general infrastructure improvements, and the building of compound walls to secure the organisation's properties. The report also noted that the construction of the new head office block, an initiative estimated to cost ₹20 crore, is currently underway.
In a concurrent development, G. Sukumaran Nair was unanimously re-elected as the General Secretary of the NSS, marking his sixth consecutive term in the position. First elected to the top post on June 25, 2011, Nair has a long history of leadership within the organisation, having previously served as both Assistant Secretary and Secretary.
The organisational elections also saw Adv. N.V. Ayyappan Pillai was chosen as the Treasurer, while M. Sangeeth Kumar was elected as the Vice President.
