KANNUR: The police jeep that had been functioning like a mini police station in front of opposition leader Pinarayi Vijayan’s house has been removed. The jeep that was stationed outside his residence, ‘Pravik’ at Pandyalammukku in Pinarayi, Kannur, was towed away last midnight. Although the jeep has been removed, the cops have not been withdrawn from duty. The jeep, bearing registration number KL 01 BR 9569, had been parked by the roadside, close to the wall. It had remained in the same spot for years and was not operational.
Police from the AR Camp arrived with a vehicle and towed the jeep away last midnight. Security was arranged for the jeep after Pinarayi Vijayan became the chief minister, as people began arriving to see the house and record videos. A sub-inspector and two cops are usually on duty at the same time.
