THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A landslide was reported in Ponmudi following heavy rains last night. We decided to close the eco-tourism centre in Ponmudi due to heavy rains. Landslides occurred at the 12th bend on the Kallar-Ponmudi road and near the 22nd bend near Idiyakovil. Forest department officials suspect that the landslide may have occurred this morning. Traffic in the area has been disrupted. Fire forces have also been dispatched from Vithura.

Tourist hotspot Nelliyampathy has also been closed. Tourists are now banned from visiting the place both today and tomorrow. The action was taken considering the possibility of landslides. The Kumbhavurutty waterfall in Kollam district has been closed due to heavy rains. Tourists will not be allowed to enter here. Heavy rain was reported in the inner forest of the Achankovil region.
