Rain fury: One dies falling into waterlogged area in Alappuzha

ALAPPUZHA: An elderly man drowned after falling into a waterlogged ditch following heavy rain. He has been identified as Sivadasan (43) of Pandanad. His body was found near the Mithramadam Bridge. He went out last night to see whether his car fell into the waterlogged ditch.

Electrocuted


One more has been electrocuted at Alathur in Palakkad. Radhika (36) of Thennilapuram Vadekkathara died while undergoing treatment. Her mother-in-law Saradha was also electrocuted on July 24. Both lost their lives from the rope tied to dry clothes.

The family was staying in a temporary shed as construction of their house was going on. Power supply was obtained by illegally drawing electricity using a hooked wire. It is believed that the rope to dry clothes was made using an electric wire. Police said that she was electrocuted from it. She was electrocuted first. Radhika was electrocuted while trying to save Saradha. Seeing this, wife of another son also came to save her. She was also sustained injuries. Radhika and Saradha sustained injuries all over their bodies. The two died while undergoing treatment at the Palakkad District Hospital.
