KOCHI: Chief Minister VD Satheesan’s sly smile and 'Pookie' edit is now doing the rounds on Instagram. The Chief Minister, who chanced upon the video, even expressed his wish to see the editor behind the viral work. Higher Education Minister Roji M. John found out the youngster and congratulated him.

The man behind the viral edit is Fijin, who raised the question during the press meet, regarding the modification of vehicles for which the Chief Minister made a special expression. Background music was added along with the title Pookie CM to the video and posted on social media. Nobody guessed what would come next. 13 million people watched the viral reel. Hundreds of reels were released later. The reel was first made to social media through the page ‘Neelakuyil’.

Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan called Fijin and expressed interest in meeting him. Minister Roji M. John congratulated and even invited Fijin to his office. Many people, including celebrities, have commented and liked the video.

Fijin is a native of Nilambur, Malappuram. Satheesan had said during the election that he would allow the modification of vehicles. Fijin, a car enthusiast, was never going to miss the question during Satheesan’s first press meet after becoming the chief minister of the state. Satheesan’s sly smile to Fijin’s query became fodder for a new Instagram viral reel. Fijin asked the question to see if the CM had retracted his earlier statement.

The video, edited in slow motion, even garnered big acceptance among the Gen Z netizens. With the video going massively viral, Fijin couldn't help but make a cheeky comment: “At least now we have a CM who smiles”

Pookie is a term used to express affection for loved ones in Gen Z slang. Pookie can mean something like "cute", "best friend", etc., depending on the context. This word, which was used in Germany as a synonym for "affection", entered the English dictionary through social media. A Tamil romantic comedy film named Pookie was released in February this year.
