'Liquor bottles, drugs and outsiders in Palayam hostel'; Minister to announce investigation

Minister Roji M John, clash between police and students at university hostel

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Higher Education Minister Roji M John raised concern over the presence of liquor bottles and narcotics at the University Men's Hostel in Palayam. The Minister stated that the Higher Education Department would conduct an inquiry into the issue and take concrete steps to curb such trends.

The Minister also described the clash that occurred in Thiruvananthapuram as unfortunate. He reiterated the government's stance supporting campus politics. Meanwhile, the minister also said an investigation would be launched into how non-students were able to stay in the hostel. Measures will be taken to prevent outsiders from staying there. Roji M. John further condemned the obstruction of Minister O.J. Janeesh's vehicle and termed the destruction of the national flag unacceptable.

“SFI attacked the Youth Congress protest without any provocation.” The Minister stated that it is natural for the police to intervene if stones are thrown at the protesters.
