THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: RSS leader TG Mohandas was taken into police custody in connection with alleged derogatory remarks against students who participated in a protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. The Thiruvananthapuram City Cyber Crime Police took Mohandas into custody after reaching his residence in Mattancherry, Ernakulam.
Mohandas had allegedly made controversial remarks calling for the protesters at Delhi's Jantar Mantar to be shot dead. He had also made derogatory remarks against women who participated in the protest. AIYF state secretary TT Jismon was the first to file a complaint in the case. Several others subsequently came forward with complaints. However, the police had neither summoned Mohandas for questioning nor arrested him in the case. The police registered the case 10 days ago, invoking sections including incitement to riot.
Mohandas had allegedly made objectionable remarks against the students. His videos containing obscene and derogatory remarks had triggered widespread protests. The FIR alleged that the video was circulated through a YouTube channel with the intention of causing a riot.
