Out of control lorry crashes into house

KASARAGOD: Two people were injured after a lorry lost control on a downhill slope and crashed into a residence at Athiyadukkam in Kuttikol on Monday afternoon. The incident occurred around 3:30 PM as the vehicle was transporting areca nuts from Kuttikol to Kottodi.

The lorry veered off the road and overturned onto the house owned by Narayanan, a resident of Kalakkara. The impact was severe, causing the tiled roof and walls of the residence to collapse, leaving the front portion of the structure completely destroyed.

Both the driver and the helper of the lorry sustained serious injuries in the crash. They were immediately rescued by locals and rushed to a nearby private hospital for urgent medical attention. It was noted that no one was inside the house at the time of the accident, preventing further casualties.

Footage of the incident, which captures the moment the lorry lost control and flipped onto the residence, has since surfaced. Local residents have raised strong concerns regarding the hazardous nature of the road, pointing out that the location—characterised by a steep descent and a curve—has witnessed several similar accidents in the past. They alleged that the authorities have failed to implement any precautionary or safety measures in the area, despite the stretch becoming a recurring site for such incidents.
