THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Police have been directed to register a case over remarks made by Reporter TV Managing Director Anto Augustine regarding the alleged second marriage of Chief Minister VD Satheesan. The direction was issued to the Thiruvananthapuram City Police Commissioner following a complaint filed with the Director General of Police by Congress leader Raju P Nair, who is also a KPCC spokesperson.
Anto Augustine had made the remarks at a function a few days ago, claiming that two young men had brought documents purportedly showing that Satheesan had registered a second marriage. He described it as a news story worth crores of rupees.
In his complaint, Raju alleged that fake documents had been fabricated as part of a conspiracy to destabilise the government. He sought an investigation into the alleged conspiracy, identification of the two youths and recovery of the documents Anto Augustine was said to have in his possession.
Anto Augustine had also told the media that he had no answer to questions regarding Satheesan’s alleged second marriage.
Referring to the controversy surrounding Lionel Messi’s proposed Kerala match, Anto Augustine said he would cooperate with any investigation. He said the media outlet had no answers to questions about who leaked news to it, how stories were produced or who in the Congress supported it. If the investigation was being conducted honestly, he said, there was no need for what he described as a “drama”.
