KANNUR: Youth Congress state vice-president Vaisakh S Darshan has been suspended from his post following his arrest in connection with the suicide of a local BJP leader. Vaisakh was arrested on charges of abetment to suicide. His name was mentioned in a note left behind by Ratheesh, a local BJP leader. In the note, Ratheesh allegedly said that he had collected money from people after promising them jobs in the Railways and handed it over to Vaisakh.

Ratheesh was found hanging in an office room in Thalassery on August 3. Job seekers who had paid money for the promised jobs allegedly pressured him after they failed to secure employment. Police believe the pressure led to his death.

The note also alleged that Vaisakh had cheated people by taking money without providing the promised jobs. A native of Ernakulam, Vaisakh was arrested in Thiruvananthapuram. Police may add more charges against him if job seekers who paid money for the jobs come forward with complaints.
