KOZHIKODE: Another case against YouTuber Aswanth Kok, who was granted bail in a drunk driving case leading to an accident. The latest action is for driving without a valid licence. The licence he possessed had expired. The licence, issued on February 17, 2005, had expired on February 16, 2025.
Aswanth had caused an accident last week while driving under the influence of alcohol. The vehicle he was driving collided with a car and a two-wheeler, causing the accident. He then tried to flee from the spot, but local residents stopped him and handed him over to the police. The Nadakkavu Police took Aswanth into custody, but released him on bail after conducting a medical examination and registering a case. The latest case was registered based on complaints filed by the owners of the vehicles damaged in the collision.
When the police asked him to produce his driving licence on the day of the incident, Aswanth told them that he had forgotten to take it. As directed by the police, he later submitted the licence at the station. During verification, the police found that his licence had expired.
The Nadakkavu Police said a case would be registered against him for driving without a valid licence. The Motor Vehicles Department has clarified that his driving licence will not be renewed for five years as punishment for driving under the influence of alcohol.
After being released on bail, Aswanth admitted in a film review he posted on YouTube the other day, that what happened was his mistake. He also said that he would never repeat the mistake again.
