KANNUR: Senior CPM leader K K Shailaja has responded to the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) summons issued to T Veena in the monthly payoff case. Veena should appear before the ED and submit the required documents when summoned. She added that if the investigation ultimately finds no offence, the authorities should acknowledge that the probe was unnecessary.
‘A daughter started a company. That company entered into agreements with other companies. That is, after all, why companies are created. Youngsters adopt various ways to earn a living. If there is any issue, it is a matter concerning the daughter herself, and she will respond to it. It appears that she has already given proper explanations. There is no reason to link this matter to the leader of the opposition,’ Shailaja told media.
The ED has directed Veena to appear before them on June 12. Summons have been issued to nine including Veena and officials of Cochin Minerals and Rutile Limited (CMRL) Sasidharan Kartha, managing director of CMRL, joint managing director Saran S Kartha, chief general manager K S Suresh Kumar. Family members including Kartha’s wife and son are in the list. They are director of various companies.
