Pala hospital staff ends life by jumping into Meenachil River

KOTTAYAM: A young woman ended her life by jumping into the Meenachil River on Friday. The victim is Amy Udaya, a native of Vayala and an employee of a private hospital. The body of the young woman was found after a two-and-a-half-hour search by the fire force and a scuba team.

The young woman jumped into the water from the Pala Cherpunkal bridge at around 9 am today. After being informed by locals, the police and fire force reached the spot and started a search. A mobile phone, purse, and shoes were found in the area. The victim was identified after obtaining the information from the purse.

The body has been shifted to Plaa General Hospital while Kindangoor police registered a case of unnatural death and started an investigation. The reason for the suicide is yet not clear.
