
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The curtain came down on the 26th edition of LA Fest, the inter-school arts festival organised by the higher secondary students of Loyola School, Sreekaryam, on Friday.
The School of the Good Shepherd, Akkulam, was adjudged the overall champion of LA Fest, while Christ Nagar Higher Secondary School, Kowdiar, emerged as the runner-up. By winning LA Persona, the show-stealer event of the fest, George Joseph of Christ Nagar Higher Secondary School bagged the Mr LA Fest title.
From the design and execution of the website, promo videos, social media handling, planning of events and guests, to arranging the light and sound systems, the higher secondary students ran the show.
As many as 1000 students from 16 city schools participated in a range of cultural competitions and performances across seven out-of-the-box events — Harmony, Enquesta, Block n Tangles, La Persona, Dance O’ Mania, L’ebate, and L’uminate — focusing on stage presence, spontaneous humour, acting skills, intellectual aptitude, and confidence.
The fest was inaugurated by Fr Varghese Anikuzhy SJ, former Principal of Loyola School. The renowned Malayali rapper Shambu Ajith, popularly known as MC Couper, and Fr Joseph Edassery SJ, former Vice-Principal of Loyola School, were the Guests of Honour.
The 2026 edition of LA Fest wrapped up with a Proshow featuring a spectacular musical performance by the band Thamarassery Churam.
Fr Sunny Kunnappallil, SJ, Manager and Rector of Loyola School, Fr Dr Salvin Augustine SJ, Director and Principal of Loyola School, Fr Ramlat Thomas SJ, Principal of Loyola CBSE School, School Leader Abhinav PK, LA Fest General Coordinator Nakul BL, and LA Fest Events Coordinator Rohan Antony were present.
