DCC office attack: Suspects identified, strict action against culprits, says Chief Minister

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The suspects in the attack on the Thiruvananthapuram DCC office have been identified. Advocate Pradeep and Sreelal are reportedly among those identified in connection with the attack. The DCC office was allegedly attacked in protest against the assault on the BJP Thiruvananthapuram South district president. Pradeep is an advocate at the Nedumangad court.

The attack took place amid clashes between Congress and BJP workers in the capital in connection with black-flag protests. The DCC office in Thiruvananthapuram and the Congress mandalam committee office at Anavoor were targeted during the clashes.

Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan said strict legal action would be taken against those responsible. He said those involved in attacking Congress offices would be brought before the law. Satheesan said the stone-pelting at the DCC office and the setting of fire to the Anavoor mandalam committee office were highly condemnable acts. A BJP worker has been arrested in connection with the case involving the fire at the Anavoor mandalam committee office.

The Chief Minister said some people were deliberately attempting to disrupt law and order in the state and that such attempts could not be accepted under any circumstances. “Attacking party offices is not the right approach,” Satheesan said, adding that Kerala’s civil society would never accept such political violence. He assured that the culprits would be identified, brought before the law and punished.
