PALAKKAD: E N Suresh Babu has been removed from the post of CPM Palakkad district secretary. Former MLA V Chenthamarakshan will be the new district secretary. Suresh Babu was removed following complaints against him. The decision was taken at the meeting attended by CPM state secretary M V Govindan.

Eight including six area secretaries, have been included in the district committee as invitees.

The demand was raised that the leadership had failed to eliminate factionalism in the district and that district secretary E N Suresh Babu should be replaced. This is the first time a district secretary has been removed as part of the corrective measures being undertaken in connection with the party's election debacle. Changing the district secretary except during the party meeting is an extraordinary move.

DYFI Palakkad district president Sheebi Krishna has also been included as an invitee to the district committee. There was a demand to replace Suresh Babu in the interest of strengthening the party's prospects in the district.
