46-year-old dies after surgery goes wrong; alleges medical negligence

KOZHIKODE: A complaint has been filed against the Kozhikode Medical College for medical negligence. A youth died after a surgery was performed on the wrong part of his body. The dead identified as Rijith (46) of Vanimal in Vadakara died Thursday morning. He had come for treatment for kidney stones.

The first surgery was performed in August last year and the second surgery in April this year. His family informed medical negligence in the surgery and said that they would not accept the body. The family alleged that the surgery that was supposed to be done on the left side was first performed on the right side and then when pus developed there, the surgery was performed on the left side without their permission.

Allegations of medical negligence are constantly being levelled against government hospitals in the state. Many people have filed complaints.
