THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Society has come out supporting Singer KS Chithra, who is facing cyber attacks following her statement regarding the Ayodhya consecration ceremony. Chithra's video message was to chant Rama's name during idol consecration and light a lamp at home in the evening. It is against this that Chithra was insulted on social media including by leftist profiles.

Even though Chithra did not speak politics, some people from the music industry also took to social media to criticize her, thinking that they would gain attention. Singer G Venugopal was also criticized by some for supporting Chithra. Earlier, actress Shobhana was criticized for participating in the Prime Minister's program.

Chithra's video went viral on the 15th. At first, isolated comments and posts appeared against it. However, the controversy flared up when a prominent online media reported on the social media comments of singer Suraj Santhosh. Then the posts on Chithra's official page were flooded with political and communal comments. It was against this that those in the political and cultural arena and common people came in support of Chithra.

Grieving: G Venugopal

G. Venugopal says that the cyber attack has caused Chithra a lot of grief. In 44 years she has only been singing. The only thought she has in this matter is the great temple of India and her devotion to it. Music, Bhakti, Sadhana, Love and Empathy... that's all Chithra has in her mind. Venugopal wrote on social media that if there is a difference of opinion with what Chithra said, people should forgive her at once.

'Doesn't the police see the cyber attacks against KS Chithra? She is being attacked for asking to chant Rama's name and light lamps. Those who came against KS Chithra are the same ones who participated in the ritual violation at Sabarimala ".

- V. Muralidharan, Union Minister

It is the Supreme Court that gave permission to build the Ram temple. Those who have faith may go, those without faith may not. KS Chithra's remark should not be controversial''.

- Saji Cherian, Minister of Culture

Everyone has freedom of opinion. Attacking for expressing ones opinion is fascism".

- V.D. Satheesan, Leader of the Opposition

"Cyber attack against Chitra is shameful. There is extreme intolerance at places where Congress and Communists are ruling".

- Khushbu, Member, National Commission for Women
