THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Actress Ranjini cleared the air surrounding her late legal intervention to impede the release of the controversial Hema Committee report. The actress said that she had no intention of blocking the report's release but only raised concerns about the content since she was one of the first actresses to give statements before the committee. Following Ranjini's petition, the government announced that the Hema Committee report would not be released today.

“I don’t want to keep the report on hold. The report has been with the government for four long years. Actors including me have testified and it is our right to see the report before its release. We need to know the veracity of the statements and don’t want to get embarrassed seeing any doctored ones.

Even when filing a police complaint, the officials will read it out loud before proceeding further. So, it is shocking that the people who testified for the report haven’t been allowed to see the report before its release. I want to see the report and know whether our statements are included in their truest form” said Ranjini.

Dubbing artist Bhagyalakshmi seconded actress Ranjini's demand to see the Hema committee report before releasing. Meanwhile, Women's Commission Chairperson P Satidevi demanded the release of the report at the earliest.
